The mourner

draperie study inspired from the mourners of dijon

While I wanted to learn to sculpt draperies in Blender, I discovered Claus Sluter, a Dutch sculptor who worked for the Duke of Burgundy in France during the late 1390's. He realized with his nephew the mourners of Dijon made of albaster. Some of them are entirely covered with fabrics and it inspired me this sculpture.

The mourner created with Blender and Cycles

Of course, I didn't succeed in achieving the same finess as the original ones. So I chose to use clay material for the render to suggest an unfinished work.
